Automated Customer Support AI Agent

A no/low-code AI agent that ingests support tickets, drafts responses, and routes complex issues — your first end-to-end agentic workflow.

Project overview

Shows practical skills in AI, automation, and cloud integration — exactly what hiring managers are looking for right now. Building an end-to-end solution that solves a real business problem puts you ahead of applicants who only have notebooks to show.

Real-world use case

Companies automating initial responses to customer inquiries, summarizing complex tickets, and routing issues to the right department — improving customer service efficiency without growing headcount.

Build roadmap

  1. Pick your platform
OpenAI Agent Builder is the simplest. n8n if you want self-hosted; Zapier if you want zero-config. Pick one and create a free account.
  2. Wire up the ticket source
Connect a Google Form (or a sample CSV) as the ticket inlet. Each new submission triggers your agent.
  3. Define the agent's tools
Give the agent two tools: "summarize_ticket" (LLM call) and "draft_response" (LLM call with company tone guidelines).
  4. Add the routing logic
If the agent's confidence is high, auto-respond. If low, send the ticket + draft to a human via Slack or email.
  5. Test with realistic tickets
Generate 20 fake tickets across categories (refund, bug, billing, feature request). Measure the agent's correct-routing rate.
  6. Document the metrics
Capture the deflection rate ("X% of tickets handled without a human") in your README. That number goes on your resume.

Ways to extend the project

Layer in sentiment analysis or image recognition so the agent can prioritize angry customers or categorize photo attachments.
