Rapid BI Dashboard Built with Generative AI

A polished BI dashboard built end-to-end with AI — Claude generates the dataset, GPT writes the DAX, and Dribbble inspires the layout, all in under an hour.

Project overview

Shows you can leverage modern AI tools to ship a polished, data-driven artifact fast — the exact "speed-to-insight" skill modern analytics teams are hiring for.

Build roadmap

  1. Pick the business scenario
Choose a fictional company and what success looks like for them: e-commerce sales, SaaS retention, marketing funnel. Write a one-sentence brief.
  2. Generate the dataset with Claude
Use the AI prompt below to generate 1000 rows of realistic data with seasonal patterns, realistic price ranges, and a few outliers.
  3. Find layout inspiration on Dribbble
Search Dribbble for "BI dashboard" or "analytics dashboard". Save 3 layouts you like. Decide on a color palette and visual hierarchy.
  4. Build the Power BI report
Import the CSV. Build 4–6 visuals: KPI cards, time series, breakdown by category, and a top-N table. Match your Dribbble inspiration.
  5. Add AI-generated insights
Use ChatGPT to write 3–5 plain-English insights (e.g., "category X grew 32% in Q3 driven by product Y"). Add as a textbox.
  6. Publish and share
Publish to Power BI Service or export as PDF. Take a 30-second screen recording walking through it. That's your portfolio asset.

Ways to extend the project

Use AI to generate automated insights and a written executive summary of the dashboard's key findings on every refresh.
